Welcome to Under New Skies!  We are Jeremy and Tera, husband and wife, who lived happily under the Californian sky for over a decade, but have taken off to set our eager eyes upon new skies.

In 2019, we bid a bittersweet goodbye to California, left the comfort and stability of our careers, sold and donated the majority of our things, and set forth on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure around the world, exploring 10 countries in 6 months. We are now embarking on a new chapter, embracing our new home and adopted country of Japan. We will be busy absorbing its culture, understanding its customs, eating its ramen noodles, and sitting front seat to an exotic education like no other.

We have always believed that adventure ignites the soul.  It swallows you up and spits you out with an entirely expanded perspective. We hope you follow along on our significant odyssey ahead, as we explore the colors, air, music, faces, and food of the unfamiliar.  We'll try our very best to capture whatever we can with our cameras and our words, but mostly strive to discipline ourselves to be right smack in the present moment, without the digital world bleeding in.
